Weekly Edit | Blends and Type

This temple picture was an absolute miracle.  I happened to finally figure out how to set my camera at the perfect moment when the light peeked through the clouds and I caught a nice HDR.  I then moved my pictures into photoshop and used the overlay blending mode to blend in a picture of river water that I had taken last week.  I masked around the temple to make it more visible.  At first, I had the mask clipped right around the temple, but opted to fade it into the edges, which gave it a crystalized look.  The text was created using a text mask with outer glow and a linear burn blending mode.

  1. I would have never thought to blend water with the temple. A lot of people did temple pictures but I think this one was the most unique! The water blended so well and the quote is very strong and works so well with the photo. I bet getting that water shot was hard to focus and capture with the quick movement.

  2. I really like this picture. Everything just blends together so well. The colors all match so well. I can tell you know what you're doing when it comes to photoshop. You took your time and really took pride in your work. I don't know if you wanted the temple to be dark like that but I think it would really help your quote by brightening the temple. Really make the temple a 'beacon.'
